Shorty after 9 am on Thursday the 14th of December, Stations 42 and 19 were alerted for an automatic fire alarm at 108 Fey Lane in Adams Township - Lectromat, Inc.
Within a few minutes, Adams PD arrived on scene and found signs of a working fire and one male outside complaining of smoke inhalation. The assignment was quickly upgraded by Butler County Fire Dispatch to a structural alarm; alerting Stations 90 (SAFER Group Stations 19, 20, 21, 22 & 42), 16, 228, 241 and 76 for the confirmation of a fire in a commercial structure. Engine 42 (Lt. Mellinger) arrived on scene and found a working fire in a production ventilation area - which was contained with a water can. Squad 42 (Lt. Carlini) arrived shortly after and stretched a 1 3/4” line and the crew began suppressing the fire. Chief 19 arrived and the command was transferred to him. His command initiation report included a working fire in the one story commercial structure, with crews in the offensive strategy and one line in operation. Along with the assistance of Engine 19, Engine 42 quickly contained, extinguished and worked to overhaul the fire area. Damage was limited to ventilation components and surrounding area. Command began to release the balance of the assignment. The male was evaluated by the on site medic crews and was found to be uninjured. No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
