During the early morning hours of our Installation Dinner, Station 42 was alerted for a Zone 1 fire alarm activation with power failure at the Med-Express Urgent Care building on Crider Road at 0542 hours. While responding, Station 42 was alerted for a motor vehicle collision (MVC) with a pole and wires down in the same vicinity on Myoma Road. Rescue 42 and Chief 42 responded to the MVC while Engines 2 and 3 responded to check on the alarm. The alarm was determined to be the result of power failure caused by the MVC. Engines 2 and 3 cleared and moved up to the scene of the MVC to provide scene securement and traffic control.

The MVC caused a power outage to approximately 50-60 residents in the Carriage Hill and Indian Meadows plans, as well as several residences on Myoma Road. A special needs resident with a home oxygen system on Myoma Road was transported by Quality EMS to a local hospital while crews worked to restore power to the area. The patient in the MVC did not require transport.

AAFD crews operated on the scene for about 2 hours.
