Today the AAFD, in conjunction with Career Works through the Boys and Girls Club welcomed 15 year old Casey Oliver for a day as an honorary firefighter. Hon. FF Oliver was sworn in by AAFD President Jason Safreed, then given a tour of the station by Retired Chief Bill Hayes and Captain Doug Mellinger, then outfitted with turnout gear. Hon. FF Oliver was then drilled on hoseline management on the training grounds. After a break for lunch at Luciano's, Hon. FF Oliver was shown rope rescue and rappelling techniques by Captains Mellinger and Tyler Cuadrado, Lieutenant Xavier Jimenez, and FF Harry Jocuns.

Hon. FF Oliver is interested in a career in firefighting, and at the end of the day, said "You are all now my friends". She cannot wait for a return trip to the AAFD. We'll be waiting for you to pull your next shift with us Casey!
