Tradition

In continuing a long standing Memorial Day tradition started by Butch Leonberg in 1964, his son Jeff and members of the Adams Area Fire District spent a rainy morning traveling to area cemeteries to honor our history. Fire Department flags were placed at the graves of past members in honor of the Memorial Day holiday.

As some stories were told about those being honored and their time and history in the fire service, newer and younger AAFD members were given an insight into these traditions and the importance of continuing to honor them..

Thank you all for continuing this long tradition. When I was young I helped my dad (Peanuts ) put the flags on Main Street every holiday. If you look carefully you can still see some of the brass holders in the sidewalks.

It always looks great to see the Mars Cemetery with all the American and fire company flags
