In the late morning, the first alarm assignment was struck for a reported kitchen fire on Garfield Ave. in the first due. Engine 42 arrived on location to a two story single family residence with light smoke showing. Crews were met by the on duty officer who contained the fire to the stove with his fire extinguisher. The assignment was downgraded to E42, E19, and C42-2 for ventilation and overhaul.
