Today, the AAFD responded for a three vehicle crash with entrapment on Mars-Valencia Road. One vehicle was overturned on its side with one person trapped inside, with the seat belt precariously around the neck. One person in another vehicle was self extricated with a laceration to the head.

Captain Mellinger and Adams Twp PD Officer Mudrick arrived on scene simultaneously. Captain Mellinger broke out the rear window for Officer Mudrick to access the driver and cut the seat belt from around the neck.

Rescue crews arrived and stabilized the vehicle, deploying a protective handline and beginning extrication efforts with a roof removal to rescue the trapped driver.

The Mars School District and AJ Myers Bus Company were notified of the road closure and advised to reroute as the incident occurred just as the high school let out for the day. The road was closed for just over an hour.
