Just before 6:00 pm Wednesday evening Adams volunteers were alerted for a vehicle accident on Davis Road in Middlesex Township with a box truck leaking fuel from a leaking fuel tank. DC 42 and the Rescue with 6 were enroute in under two minutes.

DC 42 arrived on scene at 6:04 pm to find a box truck blocking both lanes of Davis Road just north of Davidson Road, with a significant diesel fuel leak due to a passenger vehicle side swiping the steps and fuel tank on a bend in the road. The passenger vehicle sustained moderate front end damage. Both drivers reported no injuries.

Rescue 42 arrived at 6:05 pm and was tasked with leak control and containment to prevent fuel from running into adjacent Glade Run Creek. Booms, oil dry, and buckets were used to successfully contain the spill before reaching the waterway.

Middlesex Chief Huber arrived on scene and command was transferred. Crews worked to clean the roadway utilizing oil dry while awaiting tows for both vehicles.

The road was closed for about 2 hours before all crews returned in service.
