It was a "thing" back in the day for many local fire companies to sponsor a band. Dressed in Class-A style uniforms, they would travel to many parades in the summer months to march. Mars VFC sponsored one in the post-war years and into the 1950s. And of course, they were most proud to march in the annual hometown Independence Day parade in Mars. This drum and uniform components have survived and are displayed in the AAFD lobby.
