At 12:40 this morning, Stations 42 and 19 were alerted for a smoke alarm activation on Cypress Ln in Adams Township

Dispatch was notified by the caller that there was smoke in the residence and quickly upgraded the alarm to a structure fire response including stations 90, 16, 76, and Allegheny stations 185 & 228.

Adams Township police arrived on scene and reported a working fire in the garage.
Engine 42 and Tower 42 arrived on scene and were met with smoke pushing from the garage doors.

While crews began initial fire attack, Engine 19 arrived on scene and laid supply line from the hydrant to Engine 42.

Engine 185-2 arrived on scene and teamed up with Engine 19 to assist with ventilation and overhaul.

With the fire under control the incident was held to 42, 19, and 185.

Crews operated on scene for just over an hour before returning to service.
The bulk of the damage was held to the garage area and the contents of origin, with minimal smoke damage in other areas of the residence.

The cause is currently believed to be a defective power tool battery.
