Thunderstorms rolled thru Butler County two nights before this summary was published in the Butler Eagle on May 14, 1979. Mars, Callery and Evans City (stations 18,19,20) handled a lightning strike at a home along the Mars-Evans City Road.

Notable in the article is that three volunteer companies no longer exist (in name only) in the county. Mars, Meridian, and Greenwood Village VFDs are today merged into new organizations (Mars into AAFD, and the other two into Butler Township FD).
