The weather forecast over the next week will feature a high-pressure system over much of our region that will bring warm, beautiful and sunny conditions to the area! While this spring warm-up may be a great time for yard work, the Adams Area Fire District urges caution to all residents - please avoid outdoor burning of yard waste! The warm sun will not only dry out the yard waste, but also the surrounding brush and woodlands, creating ripe conditions for brush, grass & woods fires. If you must burn out doors, we kindly ask that you consult your municipality’s specific burning regulations with the links provided below for guidance on how and when to do it safely. Adam Township, Mars Borough, Seven Fields Borough, and Valencia Borough all have different ordinance restrictions that regulate outdoor fires. The PA Department of Natural Resources & the National Weather Service have placed most of western Pennsylvania in a ‘HIGH DANGER’ category for outside fires for the next week. We have already responded to 1 fire recently where purposeful yard refuse burning got away from its containment - fortunately nearby homes were not endangered and no injuries occurred. The Adams Area Fire District stands ready to respond at a moment’s notice to any and all of our community’s emergencies. Please help us keep our area safe from the ravages of fire!
